Initially seeming to forego models for this season’s lookbook, Jenneskens offered a collection of simple silhouettes seen through a sportswear lens for the New York Fashion Week season. Washed in Easter egg pastel shades or club-night metallics, the collection was pretty diverse in its visual tone. A personal favorite, the duckling yellow funnel-neck top is both quirky and charming in its simple lines and oversized quality. Paired with mesh culottes in navy, the contrast is refreshing and unusual. Mesh was a recurring fabric, taking shape in a coral-hued ‘50s collared top and coordinating trumpet skirt/mini-dress. Micro knife-pleats in the copper number is both dainty and not without sex appeal. Like many designers of our time, the allure of crossing hard-edged athleticism with youthful femininity for Jenneskens is inarguable. The result feels contemporary and fitting.
