High-Tech Pastels: Charles Youssef Spring/Summer 2017 NYFW

Women, Fashion, Runway

Teaming up with Samsung and TRESemmé for a virtual reality experience at New York Fashion Week, designer Charles Youssef showcased a peculiar sort of savoir-fair with his Spring/Summer 2017 collection – that of cute dresses and integrated media.

Before viewing the collection, guests were asked to don virtual reality goggles in order to glimpse a world of imagery, one invisible to the naked eye; through these lenses, they watched models weave among different video vignettes. Here is where the fashion experience merges with one of the modern technology age – the first of many to come. As for Youssef’s actual designs, pastel tones and pretty pleats easily took the lead this season. His ultra-feminine aesthetics also relied heavily on a different type of tech – this time being technique. Bias cuts and bold stitching appeared across pretty shirtdresses a-plenty – a major takeaway this season – for a classic Charles Youssef collection offering a glimpse into the future of fashion.
