Landlocked: Andrew Coimbra Fall/Winter 2016

Men, Fashion, Campaigns

For his Fall/Winter 2016 campaign, Andrew Coimbra chose to make the focal point in his collection not his experimental garment treatment, but rather a statement on the Canadian environment. The recent oil spills on the West Coast of his homeland had the Canadian designer shell shocked. Rather than stand by, Coimbra dove in to research on the harsh realities of marine pollution and the current state of wild life defense. Apt for the occasion was were layman’s fabrics, like denim and cotton, twisted to match the conceit Coimbra is trying to get across. Neoprene bombers emulated scuba suits, while organic prints on denim and cotton tees and jackets were reflective of an oil spill. Coimbra threads his passion for both his garment creation and his homeland seamlessly into his streetwear infused pieces.
