For Fall/Winter 2016, the PRIVATE POLICY team takes us on a voyage to the future of fashion. A journey navigated by stylish slip-on sneakers and silky fabrics struck by galactic hues — medallion and fuchsia among the shades of gray define this New York City brand’s most recent collection.
The brand’s boyish charm and threads of street style influence manifested itself in pullovers designed with cartoonish features: bright colors boomeranged about as sneaker graphics and phrases, such as “TADA!”, jump out in expression. Landed from other parameters were velvet bomber jackets and shorts.
The colors of teal and eggplant brought definition to these fancy-pants, as oversized bomber jackets of scarlet red fashioned straps sprouted from the underarms of the jacket sleeves. In other looks, fabric harnesses were styled over marled wooly pea coats and under hounds tooth button downs. Ecru and red turtlenecks peeped from under the layers of such statements.
Only a group of Parson’s Design graduates could claim this voice for downtown Manhattan. Inspired by the neighborhoods of the Lower East Side, Soho, and Chinatown, the brand lets the city dictate their designs.
