Refined Graphics: Cynthia Mak Fall/Winter 2016 Campaign

Women, Fashion, Lookbook, Campaigns

Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in London, Hong Kong-born designer Cynthia Mak has created an entirely sophisticated line infused with her own naturally graphic spirit – taking pride in a career as a graphic designer before her call to attend fashion school. And as she should: every collection she’s produced since launching her eponymous label in 2014 has been minimalist yet eye-catching, realistic and easy to wear.

Mixing geometric lines with bold prints and precise silhouettes for her Fall/Winter 2016 collection, Mak’s autumnal offerings are clever and completely at ease. Her outerwear options opt for the lighter side of refinement, with red-and-white bomber jacket and bright red fur paneled drop-shoulder coat bringing out Mak’s impeccable flair for textures; the black-white-and-gray printed combo’s expertly crisp tailoring makes it the most attractive pairing of the campaign.

Equally feminine as it is graphic, Mak’s latest work demonstrates the technical prowess of an emerging designer who brings out the best of Hong Kong minimalism to satisfy London’s love for color. This is classic Cynthia Mak, and that’s exactly what we like her.
