Halfway between two different and sharp inspirations, Ellen Pedersen has presented her third collection for spring-summer 2017 during the Copenhagen Fashion Week. “My Generation” is the title chosen for this runway show as a portrayal of a melting pot of influences. The work of the street fashion photographer Jamel Shabazz during the 1980s has a strong inspirational role for Ellen Pedersen who has recreated the atmosphere of that time, combining to the typical nonchalance of the Shabazz’s boys a sophisticated aesthetic. The other main theme is the celebration of the British subculture of the MOD, famous for the refined tastes expressed through symbols and emblems of beauty. The result is a sportswear-oriented collection that mixes styles of different eras, creating a modern and easy silhouette.
The oversized outerwears meet the small shorts for a calculated proportion of volumes. The hooded duvet vest is surely the main character of this spring-summer 2017 collection, totally capturing the attention and highlighting the sporty attitude. Definitely polished the shirts are proposed in white and brilliant hues like red, that recall the bowling style, at the same time revolutionized by the big frontal pockets. A chromatic contrast is both proposed using neautral tones like grey, black and white and thanks to crossing lines that draw geometries on pastel colors such as yellow and delicate lilac. Utterly addicting the innovative jewels designed in collaboration with the London designer Conor Joseph: the ring that develops the idea of a knuckle-dusters fusing the Ellen Pedersen logo is an absolute masterpiece, that perfectly describes the detailed concept of the collection.
