Sid Neigum brings a peace and reconciliation to all the excitement and chaos common to the intensity of the fashion circuit. For Spring 2017, the Toronto-based designer presented a collection of quite colors: ruby red and a shimmering gold engaged with an unfaltering black and white wardrobe. A sleeveless turtleneck top with side slits and pants with a scrunched ankle gave reference to menswear, as did a silky pajama set. A tailored piped tie top and matched to a wide leg pant. In traditional Neigum standard, architectural, almost origami-esque folded tailoring translated into textured tops of varying silhouettes These looks further accented a collection pronounced by construction and its black cut out prints. A crisp streak of crimson also found its way into the collection, a switch-up in Neigum’s usually all-black offerings, adding an extra element to Negium’s precision, his plain-speaking perspective on design.
