In his second season, following his inaugural show that garnered a whirlwind of press, Kerby Jean-Raymond brought the noise to New York Fashion Week once again. With a jaw-dropping performance by Cyrus Aaron and Austin Millz, along with a choir of sopranos singing soul-wrenching notes of music, the show began by paying homage to the lives lost to police brutality, the painful side of our capitalistic society, boastful power in leadership and sheer privilege.
Raymond produced a statement, rather than a spectacle, that gave a deeper meaning to his inspiration and his collection, one that was a true indicator of his bread and butter. Futuristic, tailored sharp and bold, all while filled with muted, neutral colors and the models in a natural, non-made up state gave a real sense of humanity and relativity to the assortment. Pyer Moss is a brand to keep a keen eye on and open ears to for coming seasons, as it’s apparent that Raymond and his team will keep to the theme of making art and fashion that matters.
