For Blood Brother’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection at London Collection Mens, designers James Waller and Nick Biela made the call back home. For the collection, entitled ‘Homesick’ They channeled the nostalgia of Britain, the country they call home, and the holidays they took when they were younger. Pocket-laden jackets with patchwork detailing felt just as at home in the tableau vivant as they would on a fishing expedition. Every piece was heavy on the functional details – suede vests had deep pockets, sweaters had hoods, and pants were cuffed high off the ground. Postcards and phrases were stitched on to short sweatsuit, to reminisce about those days in the sun. Bikini-clad girls, a la a 60’s advert, were printed onto utilitarian jackets and simple shirts. The collection had an energy that reminisced about the good old days, but kept those memories in stride as it moved forward.
